161kV VOLTA - ACHIMOTA – MALLAM TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) intends to undertake the Re-construction of Transmission Lines from Volta (Tema)-Achimota-Mallam in the Greater Accra Region and associated Sub-stations termination Works.

The new transmission lines are to provide further assurance of security of power supply and reduce transmission losses as well as enhance the redistribution of loads presently served from Achimota and Mallam Bulk Storage Point, to relieve the sub-stations of continuous overloading.

The Works are expected to commence from July, 2017 and be completed within a period of twelve (12) months. The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) therefore intends to undertake a decongesting exercise along its Transmission Line Right-of-Way (ROW) in parts of the Greater Accra Region to enable it to upgrade the 161 KV Tema-Achimota-Mallam Transmission Line.

The Works are to be undertaken within the relevant existing Right-of-Way of the Transmission Line from GRIDCo Volta Substation at Tema through Ashiaman, Adjirigano American House area, Dzorwulu, Kotobabi, Avenor, Industrial area, North Kaneshie, Bubuashie, Kwashieman, through Mallam to the GRIDCo Mallam Substation. The Right-of-Way therefore needs to be decongested and cleared of all activities.

GRIDCo wishes to inform  the general public and in particular all persons  operating garages, lorry parks, shops and other activities within the relevant Transmission line ROW, to relocate by July 31, 2017 to enable the contractors on the Project to get access to reconstruct the relevant transmission line towers and decommission the existing ones.

All Encroachers should take note that GRIDCo will tow all vehicles in garages and lorry parks, demolish houses, shops and all structures within the ROW if affected persons do not voluntarily relocate by August, 2017 to allow for the implementation of the Project.
