On the third anniversary of the operationalization of our company, Ghana Grid Company Limited on behalf of management and on my own behalf, I extend to all staff my best wishes and felicitations.
Congratulations to you all, for your hard work, dedication and professionalism over these three years, and for partnering with GRIDCo Management to get this far.
In just three years, GRIDCo has firmly established itself in the energy sector and quickly gained the status and reputation among stakeholders as a national and regional transmission utility to be reckoned with.
I must also express my sincere gratitude to the Board for their guidance, support, and forward looking policies that are helping us benchmark our corporate activities against our Mission Statement and strategic goals. This way, every step we take gets us progressively nearer to our vision of being at the “top of the class.”
In all our deliberations, we have found a commonality of interest and purpose to nurture a better GRIDCo, because truly, a brighter and rewarding future lies ahead. Thank you GRIDCo Board members for your support to us.
Personally, I am humbled for the opportunity to be part of such a great team who has the determination to make GRIDCo succeed and take its place in the history of Ghana and the sub-region. Words of appreciation also go out to Government and all other Stakeholders for their support over the past three years.
Ladies and gentlemen, there is no doubt that we have made remarkable strides in our strategy to modernize, expand and re-engineer the transmission network. Critical among these, is the Substation Upgrade Project (SUP), under which additional transformers have been installed at various single-transformer substations to meet the increasing demand from those communities. Ho, Asiekpe, Winneba and Takoradi, Techiman to name a few, have already benefitted from these upgrades. Efforts are also underway to complete the installation of an additional two 66MVA transformers at the Mallam substation in Accra. New substations at Zebilla, Buipe and Ayanfuri have also been commissioned.
We have also during this three year period completed the Kumasi-Obuasi Transmission Line Reinforcement Project, the Fourth Circuit Transmission line project to link the Achimota and Volta substations. The first phase of the Capacitor Banks Project has been completed, bringing relief to the excessive production of reactive power from the Akosombo Generating Station. New Tema substation has been upgraded to provide additional reliability in the evacuation and delivery of power through the station. These and other innovative operational strategies are helping to stabilize the network and bring immense benefits to consumers.
Ladies and gentlemen, let us always stand together, dialogue and work as a team in a harmonious industrial environment. This approach to togetherness and the cooperation Staff Group Leaders have so far built for us a cordial industrial atmosphere of mutual respect and a desire to work to resolve any differences amicably. Management appreciates this sense of collaboration from staff. It is our expectation that this spirit of collaboration will stay with us in the years ahead. There is no doubt that such a level of collaboration can bring greater successes.
As the good Lord gives us more years to grow our company, so must we all remain focused in our work and be at the cutting edge in all we do. Be guided at all times by the desire to deliver quality service to Ghanaians, and also to stakeholders in the sub-region. This calls for us to be up and doing, to broaden our outlook, adhere to good work ethics and bring positive changes into our work environment.
In this third year of our operations it is my firm belief that, the Almighty God will help all of us to exceed our expectations and keep us and our families in good health.
Once again, Happy Third Anniversary.
